OpenAI makes ChatGPT is “more direct, less verbose”.

A significant update has been made to OpenAI’s popular AI-powered chatbot, ChatGPT.

The conversational ChatGPT experience is powered by GPT-4 Turbo, one of the models that openai updates announced today is now available to premium ChatGPT users who have paid for ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Enterprise.

Along with gains in writing, math, logical reasoning, and coding, this new model (named “gpt-4-turbo-2024-04-09”) also makes OpenAI promises and has a more recent knowledge base. Unlike the prior version of GPT-4 Turbo available in ChatGPT, which had an April 2023 cut-off, it was trained on publicly available data up until December 2023.

OpenAI states in a post on X that “responses will be more direct, less verbose, and use more conversational language when writing with ChatGPT [with the new GPT-4 Turbo].”

following an unsatisfactory week for OpenAI, the chatgpt update comes following the GA introduction on Tuesday of new models in the API, most notably GPT-4 Turbo with Vision, which gives the formerly text-only GPT-4 Turbo the ability to recognize images.

Microsoft marketed OpenAI’s DALL-E text-to-image model as a combat aid for the US military, according to reports from The Intercept. Furthermore, two researchers at OpenAI were recently sacked for allegedly leaking information, according to an article in The Information. One of the researchers was an associate of head scientist Ilya Sutskever, who was among those pushing for CEO Sam Altman’s resignation late last year.
